Prairieville Cemetery

Prairieville Cemetery was located on Wisconsin Avenue somewhere between Grand Avenue and Broadway, in Prairieville Village (now Waukesha City), Section 3, Waukesha Township. The cemetery was relocated and no tombstones remain.

The cemetery was established before 1840. It was relocated circa 1850 to the College and East Avenues Cemetery site (see below). In 1956 two grave markers were discovered during the construction of a parking lot on this area. The Prairieville Cemetery site is now private property.

Contact Prairie Home Cemetery for reburial information. At the Waukesha County Museum there is historical information about the cemetery.

College & East Avenues Cemetery

College and East Avenues Cemetery was on the northeast corner of College and East Avenues in the City of Waukesha, Section 2, Waukesha Township.

The cemetery was established circa 1850 when the Prairieville Cemetery was relocated there. The site was rapidly developing as a residential area. Since Prairie Home Cemetery was well established and the College and East Avenue land was needed for residential expansion, it was decided to move all burials to Prairie Home Cemetery in the 1890s. The site is now private property.

For reburial record information contact Prairie Home Cemetery, Waukesha.

At the Waukesha County Museum there is Historical Information on the Cemetery.
