Wisconsin Tuberculosis and Consumption Sanatoriums in 1916

The following is a list of Public Tuberculosis Sanatoria in Wisconsin in 1916.
Many of these early public facilities were staffed and additionally funded by 
religious institutions or other benevolent organizations. At the end of the list 
of state and county institutions is a list of Homes for the insane that had TB 
faciliites, a list of penal institutions that had care for TB infected inmates, 
and a list of open air schools.

     Opened: Nov. 7, 1907
     For incipient and moderately advanced cases
     Capacity: 196
     Rates-$8-$10 per week for those able to pay
	others admitted free 
     Superintendent and Medical Director: Dr. Frank Brockway
     Application should be made to the superintendent.

TOMAHAWK LAKE (Oneida County)
     State Forest Reserve Tuberculosis Camp
     Opened: August 12, 1915
     For convalescent consumptives discharged from state, county or other sanatoria. 
     Capacity: 30
     Rates: Not to exceed $3.50 per week for board which can be paid in labor.
     Superintendent: F.A. Reich
     Application should be made to the superintendent.

     Opened: Dec. 15, 1913
     For secondary and advanced cases
     Capacity: 50
     Rates: $10 per week

     Medical Director: Dr. Fred Farr

LITTLE CHUTE
RIVERVIEW SANATORIUM-OUTAGAMIE COUNTY SANATORIUM
     Opened: Jan 1914
     For all classes of cases.
     Capacity: 34
     Rates: $10 per week
     Superintendent: Miss Ella F. McGovern, R.N.
     Medical Director: Dr. C. D. Boyd

LITTLE RAPIDS
HICKORY GROVE SANATORIUM-BROWN COUNTY SANATORIUM
     Opened: Feb. 15, 1914
     For all classes of cases
     Capacity: 36
     Rates: $10 per week
     Superintendent: Miss Helen Scheller, R.N.

SOCIAL WORKERS' TUBERCULOSIS SANATORIUM
     (corner Keefe and Humbolt Ave)
     Opened: Oct. 6, 1911
     For incipient and convalescent cases
     Capacity: 30
     Rates: There are no charges
     Superintendent: Mrs. E.G. Lindeman
     Medical Director: Dr. W.H. Washburn
     Application should be made to the medical director.

TUBERCULOSIS WARD OF THE MILWAUKEE CHILDREN'S FREE HOSPITAL
     Opened: 1907
     For cases of tuberculosis of the bones.
     Capacity: 12
     Rates: Free to indigent cases.  $1 per day for others.
     Superintendent: Miss Gertrude McKee
     Application should be made to the superintendent.

     For all classes of cases.
     Capacity: 37  
     Rates: $10 per week

STEVENS POINT
RIVER PINES SANATORIUM FOR TUBERCULOSIS
     Opened: 1906
     For incipient and moderately advanced cases.
     Capacity: 42  
     Rates: $25.00 to $50 per week, including all medical and nursing attention.  
     Superintendent-Miss M.B. Hart.  
     Medical Director: Dr. Thomas H. Hay
     Surgical Director: Dr. F. E. Walbridge
     Pathologist: Dr. Paul A. Ferrier
