From Local Correspondents Point Bluff -Born, to Mrs. And Mrs. Elmer BACON, May 9, a daughter. -Mrs. WOOD was the guest of Mrs. Maud BACON, Sunday. -Mrs. GOFF has been entertaining her cousins from Monroe-Center. -Norm. CUMMINGS visited his mother Sunday. -Mamie WARD is not able to leave the house yet. She is not recovering very rapidly from her hard sickness. Pilot Knob -Ladies' Aid Society meets on Friday of next week with Mrs. Will SMITH. -Miss Mary LYON is at work for Mrs. T. NEWTON of Coloma. -Mrs. George WAY's family moved to Coloma last week. -Born, to Mrs. and Mrs. Walter SMITH, May 3, a daughter. -Mrs. H. MYERS and two children, from near Bancroft, have been visiting her sister, Mrs. John STODDARD, and other relatives in this place. -Joseph VOBERIL is doing some carpenter work for C. LYON. -Mrs. E. CHURCH left on Tuesday of last week to visit her mother near Wyocena. -Mrs. H. MORGAN is gaining so fast, she is now able to be outdoors. Quincy -Mr. S. P. BERRY and wife, of Portage, are visiting with Mrs. Granton DUNN. -D. D. SMITH has gone to Pittsville, Wood County, after a fast horse. -Mrs. Joseph REINE is on the sick list. Dr. LISTER is attending her. -The new cheese factory will commence taking in milk Wednesday or Thursday of this week. -Miss Mabel PISHION is giving good satisfaction as teacher in district No. 3. -Charley SMITH and Dan MORLEY have gone over to Hustler to work. -Mr. J. PISHION, of EASTON, visited with his sister, Mrs. J. TRUMBULL, a few days last week. -FAIRBANKS and HAMMOND will finish sawing this week. -Mr. JONES, of Milwaukee, has traded property and moved onto the farm known as the Geilon farm. -Rev. THOMAS has organized a singing class in district No. 3, with thirty members. -Rev. ROBINSON, of Adams Center, preached in district No. 2, last Sunday. Plainville -Gen. OAKES, Jr., and Edward OAKES visited at Reedsburg Sunday. -Mr. and Mrs. THOMAS DONNELLY, of Portage, visited with relatives from Sunday until Tuesday. -Miss Anna MANIS, of EVANSVILLE, is visiting her brothers. -G. R. COOK and family visited at Little Lake Sunday. -C. H. BARRETT made a business trip to Friendship Monday. -Miss Edna EDMONDS, who is teaching at Dell Prairie, visited at home Saturday and Sunday. -Victor BLASYKIE and family have moved onto the WALTON farm, near Quincy, Monday. -Mrs. B. SHADDUCK is slowly improving. -H. A. FIELDS called on friends last Tuesday. -Miss Daisy HAMMOND, of Strongs Prairie, is visiting her cousin, Mrs. Robert WAINRIGHT. -Mr. WHITE and son Dell, of Brandon, visited here a few days the past week. -Rev. TURNER will give a lecture here May 20th, on Abraham Lincoln. After the lecture, ice cream and cake will be served. Ten cents will be asked of each person. White Creek -Married, at the Congregational parsonage, April 21st, 1897, Mr. John WALRATH, of White Creek, and Miss Lillian A. CUMMINGS of Point Bluff. The young people are well known and their many warm friends join in wishing them a long and happy life. -Mr. A. C. MARDEN has purchased a fine new carriage. -Mrs. WALKER's nephew, who has been spending several weeks with her, has gone to Merrill to visit for a short time. -Mr. Frank WITT has rented his father's mill for the coming year. -Miss Carrie WALKER has gone to Merrill to see her sister, Mrs. Jennie DAVIS, who is very sick. -Miss Verna WALRATH and Miss Margaret MARDEN went to Westfield Saturday last. -Mr. Sam. McCHESNEY's family visited at Mrs. N. A. MET Yard's last week. They also called on other acquaintances. -Mr. Stephen HOWARD is home from Milwaukee. -Mr. Jay JENCKS and wife are visiting their parents. -Mr. Forest METEYARD and wife expect to go north to visit their friends this week. -Mr. JENCKS is having his roof shingled. O. M. S. -Mrs. and Mrs. Forest METEYARD started for an overland trip to Tomah and Eau Claire last Tuesday morning. -Frank FERRIS' team took quite a lively runaway last week, damaging the wagon and harnesses some. -Mrs. George STOWELL went to Chicago last week to spend a few weeks with her mother and brother there. -H. A. HOWARD is improving his premises by painting his house. -Editor JONES, of Kilburn, was seen on our streets Tuesday. He was here looking after the interests of the telephone line. -We notice Point Bluff claims the wedding of Mr. John WALRATH and Miss Lillie CUMMINGS. Now, White Creek claims that honor; they were married at Rev. Marten's Wednesday evening, April 21st and our boys gave them a serenade the following evening. The happy pair is staying with John's parents and has the best wishes of many friends. The estate of Inebriety INGEBRETSON is in probate. Local Brevities -Mrs. BLISS has gone to Quincy this week with a line of millinery goods. -Mrs. L. W. HOLMES, of Big Flats, was a Friendship visitor on Monday. -Peter MITCHELL, of Plainfield, was a visitor to Friendship today (Thursday). -Miss Jessie McGowan spent Saturday and Sunday with her mother in this village. -Sheriff BARRETT, of Plainville, was a caller at the Press office on Monday of this week. -Editor J. E. JONES, of Kilburn, was a visitor in Friendship on Tuesday and Wednesday. -Fine strawberry plants, sixty cents per 100 at M. F. Hammond's, Strings Prairie, Was my1t5 -Mr. and Mrs. Claude McNEIL, of Kilburn, Sundered at the ATCHERSON House, in this village. -Mr. and Mrs. Rufus WALTON, of Easton, visited the first of the week with Co., Supt. and Mrs. LEWIS and other friends in this village. -Dr. M. W. TAYLOR and A. D. BOWMAN, of Kilbourn, are in town this week, trying their luck fishing in Adams County's noted trout streams. -Rev. KASPERSKIE wishes to announce that there will be an English priest at the Roman Catholic Church next Tuesday, May 18th, to hear Easter confession. -The dramatic company presented "No Cure, No Pay," and the "Quixotic Quakers" to a full house last Friday evening. The proceeds were $20.90. -Mr. and Mrs. S. W. PIERCE visited Grand Rapids early in the week, returning home Tuesday. Mr. PIERCE was in attendance at circuit court in session at the place. -Miss Verna WALRATH, of White Creek, who is teaching school at Adams Center, visited from Friday until Sunday last in this village, the guest of Miss Mama WILBER. -Mrs. Eva CROTHERS and little son, Floyd, of Jackson, visited several days the latter part of last week and the first of this week with her parents, County Treasurer and Mrs. J. M. GRAHAM.
