Took The Short Cut.-On Saturday last Albert BORDEN, of the town of Westfield, Marquette county, was 
arraigned before Judge HARRISON, of this county, on an information charging the defendant with having, 
last summer, stolen a steer of the value of $30, from R. D.  MALLORY.  The defendant plead guilty, and 
was sentenced to eight months hard labor in the State prison.

Death of Mr. L. H. BOWEN.-Mr. L. H. BOWEN,  a son-in-law of Mr. D. SCOFIELD, Clerk of the Circuit Court 
of this county, died at his house in Plainfield, Waushara county, on Friday morning last, of a disease 
of the heart, and was buried in Mount Repose, at this place, on Sunday.
Mr. BOWEN formerly resided in Preston, about two-and-a-half miles from Friendship, and was well known 
and highly respected by all acquainted with him.  He was a quiet, industrious citizen, devoted to his 
family, and careful and prudent in his business affairs.  He leaves a widow and two children.
