Bert Landt and Adam Hile, of Kilbourn City, "bivouaced" at the Atcherson House in this place last Wednesday night.
They were "taken" by the surprizing beauties of Oaklawn addition to Friendship, and expressed the purpose to invest
in Oaklawn city lots. The inclement weather touched Adam tenderly, and in addition to a location for a livery stable,
he also expressed a wish for one wherefrom to dispense water warmed up with something.

"Chimney Rock" Must Go
Andrew Wolfe and Peter Sorrenson have purchased that portion of the bluff north of this village on which is situated
picturesque "Chimney Rock," and are blasting the base of that towering pile of stone to convert into building material
for the trade next spring. For ages "Chimney Rock" has withstood storms and raging elements, and has been looked upon
as a thing of beauty and one of the wonders of this section. It extends many feet in the air, and closely resembles a
stone chimney of mammoth proportions, which gives it the name of "Chimney Rock." Its destruction will cause a pang of
sorrow to many who have learned to admire and almost love this old curiousity. The gentlemen named have been blasting
at the base of this rock for several days, but as yet it has refused to succumb to the hamd of man, which certainly
proves that its builder was a thorough workman.
