ADAMS COUNTY PRESS Friendship, Wisconsin S. W. Pierce, Publisher Local Brevities -George WETTLAUFER is home from Minnesota for the holidays. -H. N. BRIGHAM, of Pilot Knob, was in town on Wednesday. -Mr. and Mrs. W. B. ATCHERSON visited relatives at Plainville from Friday until Sunday last. -A. S. NEFF, Easton's capable chairman of Supervisors, was a Friendship visitor last Thursday. -Clifford and Charlie STAFFORD, of Jackson, spent Christmas at Register of Deeds McCONICK's. -Miss Grace WOOCK of Baraboo, is visiting her grandparents, Mr. and Mrs. E. KNIGHT this week. -Rev. J. A. THOMAS will preach next Sunday, January 3rd, at Spring Bluff schoolhouse, at 3 p.m. -Rev. J. A. THOMAS and Mr. N. M. JONES have gone to Racine to attend the Eisteddfod, a great musical feast. -Mr. and Mrs. William HOPPER and family spent Christmas Day with Mr. and Mrs. Frank McLAUGHLIN, near Coloma. -Mrs. J. A. THOMAS wishes to thank through the Press, a certain party of young ladies for tying a fine quilt for her. -Miss Viola LAPHAM arrived home from Minnesota last Thursday, and is visiting her parents, Mr. and Mrs. Jas. STOWE. -Mr. and Mrs. N. M. JONES and daughter, Miss Ina, spent the latter part of last week with friends at Briggsville. -Miss Nessie McGOWAN, who is teaching school at Big Flats this winter, is spending her holiday vacation with her mother in this village. -Hon. J. W. GUNNING left on Thursday of last week to spend Christmas with his daughter, Mrs. Ina PURVES, at Wasaukee, in Marinette county. -Miss. Belle SIMONS arrived home from Lakota, N. D., on Thursday of last week, having been compelled to give up her school on account of sickness. -County Treasurer and Mrs. J. M. GRAHAM and Clyde GRAHAM pent Christmas with their daughter, Mrs. BOMONT (BEMENT ?), at Dell Prairie, returning home Monday. --DARTT knifed his knee with a pocket knife the other day, and though the wound appeared trivial it was large enough to sever a prominent nerve and now he hobbles about on crutches. -Dr. BARBOUR, of Mauston, will be at the ATCHERSON House, Monday, January 18th, and will remain one week, and remember I extract teeth absolutely painless, and no cocaine used. All work fully warranted. -Mrs. SCHIEBER visited friends on Pleasant Prairie on Tuesday last. _The new postoffice established in the northern part of the town of Quincy is named Hadlock. -Mr. John WURM has traded his farm-the BANKER place-to Mr. Venzel S. Klindera of Chicago, for property in that city. -The singing class, under the tuition of Elder THOMAS, is making fine progress, and already the beneficial effects of the master's hand are apparent. R' will sell excursion tickets to all points on its lines within 200 miles of Necedah at a fare and one-third for the round trip. Nelson JONES is very sick, and is under D. CHILSON's care. Ed. HUBER is hauling rye to Westfield A number of Henry BURGDORFF's relatives spent Christmas with him. Mant SECORD is doing some good sawing at the Jackson mill George BLOSS came near being killed by a buzz-saw last week. A pin sticking out from the balance wheel shaft caught his clothing, tearing it nearly all off from him. He escaped with a few bad bruises. The PERKINS Bros. put in a new pump for B. PIKE last week. James GRANT and wife visited at E. HUNT's Christmas. Deacon REID is very sick, it being necessary to call the doctor twice in one day. Pilot Knob A Happy New Year to all! Services conducted by Elder GRIFFITH were held in the Buckhorn school house Monday night, and Ed. CHURCH's Tuesday night. Mr. FULLER gave a musical entertainment at the Pilot Knob schoolhouse last Saturday night. Miss Cora HAWKINS is home on a week's vacation. George WETTLAUFER spent Sunday with friends here. There will be a chicken-pie supper at Mr. John POWELL's, January 8. A cordial invitation is extended to all. The Christmas tree given by the South Burr Oak Sunday School, was a success. And now Joseph thinks he will have to build his house in the spring. Be careful, Joe, she may leave you. Mr. L. T. STAPLES and family will move to their farm near Killbourn, this week, where they expect to spend the winter. Miss Jennie NESBITT was on the sick list last week, but is able to resume her school duties again. Miss Anna WAY is visiting friends at Adams Center his week. Mr. and Mrs. Ed. CHURCH and Miss ISABELLE, spent Sunday at Mrs. M. DIMICK's. Services at the Morgan schoolhouse next Sunday.
