ADAMS COUNTY PRESS Friendship, Wisconsin S. W. Pierce, Publisher Local Brevities Mrs. Finch, of Barnum, died one day last week. Miss Mabel Barneson was was quite sick the first of last week. Rev. P.B. Staples visited White Creek on Thursday of last week. A. Winkler, of Davis Corners, was in town the latter part of last week. Dr. W. E. McGowan made a professional visit to Coloma on Monday last. Messrs. Wm. Hopper and J. W. Gunning visited Pleasant Prairie on Saturday last. The little daughter of Mr. and Mrs. R. S. Harrison was quite sick for a few days the first of this week. Mr. Wm. Tinney of Spring Creek, has been suffering from a severe attack of rheumatism for some time past. Mr. Sprague, of Green Lake county, finished platting Oaklawn last Wednesday, and left the same day for Westfield. Messrs. Frank Stowell and John P. Lewis, of White Creek, were in this village last Saturday, looking up choice residential lots. Master Frank Wilbur, of Duluth, is making his grandparents, Mr. and Mrs. Joseph Wilbur, of this village, an extended visit. Miss Ida Gunning returned last Tuesday from Barnum, where she had been visiting with relatives for the past week or more. Mr. Dart, of Monticello, began moving his household goods into his new house on the corner of Belfast and First streets on Wednesday. The Kilbourn stage, driven by Joshua Crawford, which should have arrived here last Tuesday night, failed to put in an appearance until 2 p.m. Wednesday. Last Thursday evening a number of the boys and girls gathered at the residence of Mr. and Mrs. C. M. Simons, in honor of the fifteenth birthday of Miss Belle. The evening was passed with games, music, etc. Refreshments were served, and all joined in declaring that they had spent a most delightful evening. The young people presented Miss Belle with a beautiful gold pen in token of their regard and best wishes. From Local Correspondents White Creek Rev. Gilbert, of Sun Prairie, has been holding a series of evening meetings in our church for more than two weeks past. They have resulted in a number of conversions. Rev. P.R. Staples, of Friendship, came down last week Wednesday and assisted that evening in the revival work. His many friends here were glad to see him. H.A. Howard has gone to Waukesha on a business trip. Mrs. Winterstein is quite sick with erysipelas. Frank Ferris came down from Friendship last Thursday and visited friends here and at Olin until Monday. We are all glad to welcome him to our home, for Frank has spent so many years of his life in our village that we count him as one of the boys. Big Spring Hi Mason is unable to do anything yet. D. M. Hatch went to Portage Monday. Leone Kimball was buried yesterday. She was a sister of Frank and William Kimball, merchants at Briggsville. The cause of her death was consumption. Eugene Haskins and wife, of Dakota, are visiting with relatives in this burg. They will go to Adams Center this week if the weather permits. Arkdale E. Sullivan made a trip to Westfield, instead of Necedah. Mr. C. S. Lawrence was seen in this village on Thursday of last week. Mr. T.W. Phillips talks of organizing a singing school in this place. Miss Sarah McMahon and Miss Nellie Sullivan visited Miss Susie Karnes on Saturday and Sunday last. Mr. and Mrs. L. Knight visited at Mrs. D. Sullivan's on Saturday last. Miss Clara Harris started for Grand Rapids a few days ago. J. Berg made a trip to Necedah on Tuesday last. J. Christenson made a trip to Grand Rapids on Wednesday last. From Pilot Knob Miss Lillie Nesbitt, from Russells Flats, visited with friends in this vicinity last week. Mr. Will Cummings, of Pardeeville, is visiting his sister, Mrs. Ida Wagner, in this place. Collins Gibson, son of Ralph Gibson, is very sick. The peach supper at W. Peck's last Thursday evening for Rev. K. Kilbourn, netted that gentleman $8.25. The Ladies' Aid Society meets with Mrs. L. Hicks on Friday of this week. Miss Edith Ayers and brother Harvey returned from Whitewater about a week ago, where the latter has been attending school. Born, to Mr. and Mrs. Charles Miller, Jan 24th, a son.
