Abstracted from the Adams County Times & Friendship Reporter, July 18, 2007 The Friendship Congregational Bible Church was organized July 21, 1867, and the first building erected in 1874 - 75. The first church services held in the new 28 x 48 feet building were held July 3, 1875. Additions to the building were made in 1924, 1950, 1957 and 1999. The Friendship Congregational Bible Church building was used as a community center at times, such as for graduation ceremonies in the early 20th century, since it was the largest building in Friendship, being larger than the courthouse. It was the meeting place for some of the 1957 Village of Friendship centennial committee meetings. In the early 1970's the Adams-Friendship school district rented the church's basement for use as additional classroom space due to a shortage of space in the public schools. A memorial book containing the history of the church and Ladies' Aid, photos of the church and it's members in the past century, and the 1867 membership list. The church is still in it's original location, its present day address being 100 South Adams Street in Friendship, or one block east of the County Highway J and Highway 13 intersection. The preceding is compiled from an article about the 15oth church anniversary celebration printed in the July 18, 2007 Adams County Times and Friendship Reporter.
