RANK, 20, the son of Mr. and Mrs. Edward RANK, Adams, had died of the wounds he received the week before in Vietnam. Dennis, who was born July 6, 1948, was severely burned while fulfilling his duty as a mechanic. he was flown to Japan, where he was hospitalized. Major Ancil D. LEISTER, Jr., US Army, Dept of Military Science at Wisconsin State University, Stevens Point, is in charge of making the funeral arrangements with the Roseberry Funeral Home, Friendship. The date of the funeral is pending, awaiting notification of the arrival of the body. Military funeral services will be conducted with Rev. Carmen Thronson officiating, and burial will be in Mount Repose. Besides his parents, he is survived by his fiancee, Pamela HENRIKSEN, Friendship, and a host of other relatives. [Photo accompanied article] SP4 Dennis RANK Funeral Rites Held on Tuesday (May 22, 1969, Page 1) Military funeral services for SP/4 Dennis RANK, 20, who died May 11 in Japan of bilateral pneumonia, due to secondary burns recived in Vietnam on May 2nd, were held Tuesday May 20 at Roseberry Funeral Home, Friendship. Memorial services were held Tuesday at 10 a.m. at the Roseberry Funeral Home for Adams-Friendship High School students. Rev. Carmen Thronson officiated at the services. Major Ancil D. LEISTER, Jr., Stevens Point, of the U.S. Army, was the survival officer in charge of the arrangements. Pfc. Raymond D. CHURCHILL, a former A-F youth, was the escort of the body from Oakland, California, to Wisconsin Rapids, at the request of the family. The firing squad and buglers were composed of a large group of servicemen from the 5th Army of the U.S. The local VFW and American Legion members acted in the position of honorary guard. Two friends of Dennis, William JOYCE and John TRZESNIAK were given the privilege of folding the flag. George MOCK sang at the services. Pallbearers were Alan KLAUS, Dale PARKS, Frank SCHNOLIS, Kenneth PROBYN, Sgt. John REUTERSKIOLD and Raymond ROBERTS. Burial was made in Mount Repose Cemetery, Friendship. Specialist 4C RANK, the son of Mr. and Mrs. Edward RANK, R.1, Adams, was born in Milwaukee July 6, 1948, and moved here with his parents at the age of 2. A 1966 graduate of Adams-Friendship High School, he entered the service of his country on March 5, 1968. He received the outstanding soldier award for his post on September 18, 1968. After a furlough at home, he left here on Good Friday and arrived in Vietnam on the 5th of April, 1969. His parents received the word May 4 that he had been severely burned on Friday, May 2, while fulfilling his duty as a mechanic. He was flown to Japan where he was hospitalized, until his death, which was on Mother's Day, Sunday, May 11. His immediate survivors are his parents and among a host of other relatives are his maternal grandparents, Mr. and Mrs. Albert HOIKING, Milwaukee. He was preceded in death by a brother, Edward, in 1954.
