Wm. VanMater Rites Are Today
Funeral services for Army Sp4 William W. VanMATER, 28, are being held today, Thursday, October 10, at 9:30 a.m. at the Roseberry Funeral Home. Rev. Richard Halom, Arkdale, will officiate. Burial will be in the Quincy cemetery with full military honors.
The Adams County GI was killed in action in Vietnam, the Defense Department reported October 1st. He previously had been listed as missing on September 26, that he had been missing since September 23.
VanMATER was the son of Mr. and Mrs. William D. VanMATER, Route 2, Friendship. He entered the Army about a year and a half ago and had been in Vietnam since March.
Survivors include his parents, a brother, Alan, 12, and two sisters, Mrs. Colleen GRIFFIE, Oshkosh, and Mrs. Susan PHARIS, Hebron, Ohio.
