Here are a few short pre-1925 newspaper clippings. Unfortunately my grandmother didn't write down which paper they came from, although I'm guessing they came from the Central Union paper. (1) Handwritten note said this first one was from 1922 (month/day not in article): "MARRIED - Last Sunday at High Noon at the Lutheran Parsonage, Mr. Irving W. Shultz and Miss Evelyn Wachholz were united in marriage by Rev. Theo Gohlke. These young folks have grown up in Westfield and will make their home at Plymouth where the groom has employment. The young couple left for their new home on Sunday afternoon." (2) This next one is from 1922 (per handwritten year notation): "MARRIED - Ingraham-Johnston On Saturday evening at nine o'clock June 30th a very pretty wedding was solemnized at the home of the bride's parents, Mr. and Mrs. Allen S. Ingraham of Westfield. When their daughter Ethel Dorothea and Lewis M. Johnston were united in marriage, the Rev. Semelroth officiated, the double ring service being used. After the guests arrived a supper was served, then the young people marched into the parlor where they took their places under three wedding bells suspended from an arch of white. Miss Esther Kerst of Milwaukee acted as brides maid and Elmer Ingraham, a brother of the bride, as best man. The bride and groom need no introduction to the people of this community, as they have spent most of their life at home. Sunday afternoon they autoed to their home in Milwaukee where the groom has a position on a street car as conductor. The best wishes of all who know them go with them on their life's journy." [journey was misspelled in the original] (3) This one had the handwritten date of 1924: "MARRIED - Darwin Schultz and Miss Mae Hamilton were married Wednesday at 9 a.m. at Friendship by the Presbyterian minister of that place. The groom is the son of Mr. and Mrs. Gus Schultz of this place but is now working in a barber shop at Friendship. He is a graduate of our high school last June and was very prominent in H.S. Athletics. He is a very industrious young man. The bride is the daughter of Mr. and Mrs. George Hamilton of Hecla, N.D. but she stayed here with her grand parents Mr. and Mrs. James A. Hamilton and attended H.S. here until her parents came later. She also graduated from our High School last June. She has a very pleasing personality." [grand parents in the original was treated as two separate words] 4) 1923 article (per handwritten note): "MARRIAGE - Miss Edna Schlinske of this place and Mr. Morris Harrison of Fond du Lac, were united in marriage on Wednesday, November 7, at three o'clock, by the Rev. Velke, of Montello. The ceremony was preformed in the manse, in the presence of a few immediate relatives. Miss Margaret Long, cousin of the bride, and Mr. Herbert Thalacker, a school-mate, acted as bridesmaid and groomsman. The young people were pleasantly surprised by a host of friends on Wednesday evening, by a reception at the Schlinske home. They received many pretty and useful gifts. They expect to locate to Milwaukee for the present. We extend to the young couple all good wishes for a long, happy life." [NOTE: preformed was a typo in the original -- not sure what "manse" is or if it was a typo also] 5) Aug. 9, 1923 (per handwritten note): "Mr. Leo Kline of this place and Miss Florence Dix Tomkiewicz were united in marriage at Milwaukee last Wednesday by the Rev. Sturn. Leo as he is known by his hosts of friends is a son of Mr. and Mrs. F.W. Kline, and is a young man of sterling qualities. Miss Tomkiewicz has been a successful teacher in our high school and has made innumerable steadfast friends by her pleasing personality. The village will greet Mr. and Mrs. Leo Kline as a very welcome addition to our community and the Union joins with their many friends in extending congratulations to the young couple. After the wedding trip they will go to housekeeping in the Mrs. Marshall house." 6) Handwritten note "married Oct. 15, 1923" "ON WEDDING TRIP - Mr. and Mrs. C.L.
