1) "The Senior Teacher Training class now have a class at 8:15 in the
morning.  They are having this class so as to get used to getting to their
rural school early in the morning."


2) "The training students have written their first letters to the rural
teachers.  In this way they hope to gain suggestions by which they will
understand the rural conditions."


3) "The Civics class has formed an historical association and shall endeavor
in the next few weeks to gather the most interesting facts about our local
history from those who have helped to make such history.  Those to whom
members of the class apply are asked to give as fully as possible their
connection with the growth, progress, and development of the village of
Westfield, her industries and institutions.  The association will meet each
Tuesday of every week in the Civics class room.  Any one wishing to come is
cordially invited."


4) "The following students have begun practice teaching:  Third Grade
Reading - Clarence Chesky, Adelia Kruger, Charlotte Wilkins, Blanche Mills;
Seventh Grade Reading - Vernard Zaske, Grace Roskie, Evalena Thalacker;
Fourth Grade Arithmetic - Evaline Tagatz, Martha Tonn, Lillie Lange."


5) "The senior training class, accompanied by their training teacher Miss
Beers; county superintendent Mr. Long, and assistant County superintendent
Miss Robicheau observed in rural schools on Tuesday and Wednesday."


6) "The following high school pupils will play the marches this first
semester:  Grace Roskie, Irene Schwark, Alene Meinke, May Hamilton, Dorothy
Taylor, Evaline Tagatz, Agnes Haney, Belva Dewar, Isabel Kerst, Margaret
Leberg, Margaretta Roskie, Evelyn Bruckner, Ethel Phillips, Mary Eubank,
Louise Meinke."


7) "The training class had an interesting Halloween program last Friday.
Overheard in a practice Class:  Teacher - What does the proverb Spare the
rod and spoil the child mean.  Pupil -- It means if you don't whip a child
it will mold.


The Senior class stunt was given last Wednesday:  Piano duet, The
Blacksmith - Grace Roskie and Irene Schwark; Reading, The Nine Little
Goblins - Isabell Russell."


8) "Mr. Douglas made a very interesting talk in the High School Assembly.
His subject was It's Up to You.  After the talk he led the school in
community singing."


9) "We also appreciated a call by Mr. Osborne of the state department.  He
gave a short talk to the High School and Training department emphasizing the
difference of almost succeeding and not quite getting across.


The training Department received a great many suggestions for seat-work from
him.  At present the T.T.C. are busily prepared for credit work next week."


10)"The entire training class will begin practice teaching next week."


11) "Schedules for practice are as follows:  Eight Grade Reading - Arline
Kruger, Dorothy Taylor; Fifth Grade Arithmetic - Blanche Mills, Isabel
Kerst; Fourth Grade History - Lillie Lange, Martha Tonn, Evaline Tagatz;
Third Grade Language - Dora Davis, Cora Campbell; First Grade Reading,
Second Grade Reading - Evalena Thalacker, Adelia Kruger.


The Senior T.T.C. class have taken the Hinterberg Wisconsin Geography Test."


11) "The senior training class gave the following program Friday: Song -
Turkey on Grandpa's Farm; Reading - Clarence Chesky; Poem - Carroll Leonard;
Debate - Shall Corporal Punishment be allowed in schools: For - Blanch
Mills, Evaline Tagatz [NOTE: probably should read Blanche]; Against - Lillie
Lange, Martha Tonn, Dorothy Taylor; Son - Thanksgiving Hymn."


12) "The Senior T.T.C. are planning a reception for the rural school
teachers of Marquette County, who will be present at the teacher's
convention held here October 12th and 13th."


13) "The Senior T.T.C. attended the Marquette County Teacher's institute
held here on Friday and Saturday.  They received many helpful suggestions,
and feel well repaid for their time.  THey spent all day Friday and
Saturday.


14) "The three divisions of the seventh grade reading class illustrated the
Legend of Sleepy Hallow.  One division made a poster, the other booklets,
and the third division a sand table.  The work is so good that it is hard to
judge which is the best."


15) "The Senior Training Class gave a reception for the teachers of
Marquette County, Friday night in the new high school auditorium.  A short
program was given at 9:15.  The program was as follows:
Community singing led by Professor Weiland; Piano Solo - May Hamilton; The
Run Away Boy - Evaline Tagatz; The Fiddle - Mildred Wohlfert; Reggedy Man -
Evalena Thalacker; A Comedy in One Act - Early Ohios and Rhode Island Reds.
The characters in this playlet were Oliver, a farmer - Harvey Keitzman;
Madge, his wife - Charolotte Wilkins [NOTE: Charlotte ?]; Mrs. Nelson - Dora
Davis; Tom - Clarence Chesky; Ella - Della Kruger.


After the program all went down to the gym, where games were played, after
which a light lunch was served, which consisted of ice-cream and wafers.
After this, the crowd broke up, merrily, after a pleasant evening."


16) "Santa Claus has visited the training room, and trimmed the Christmas
tree before he left."


17) "The senior T.T.C. will have their literary society and program Friday,
December 21.  The program includes health Christmas numbers.


Some of the senior girls in the T.T.C. are making baskets of Dennison's
materials."


18) "The week of the eighteenth to the twenty-sixth has been set aside as
the National Education week.  Principal Weiland's sophomore civics class has
been divided into five groups.  Each group is to work out a program suitable
for the day.  Monday, National Constitution Day; Tuesday, Patriotic day;
Wednesday, School and Teacher day; Thursday, Illiteracy day; and Friday,
Community day."
