

Here are some more pre-1925 clippings in my grandmother's scrapbook. They were pasted onto a page that she labeled "Senior T.T.C. 1923-1924" 1) "Following is the list of teachers that have been employed for the Westfield schools for the school year of 1923-24: L. E. Weiland, Principal; R. Starkey, Agriculture Phy. Ed.; R. Andrews, Hist. Sc. and Phy. Ed.; Mrs. Hazel McLean, Eng. and Lat.; Miss Florence Tomkewicz, Eng. Lib.; Miss. E. Mae Beers, T.T.C.; Miss Lulu Moll, Math. Phy. Ed.; Mrs. Minnie Meinke, Home Ec.; Mrs. Margaret Messling, 8th and H.S. Hist.; Mrs. Martha Ward and Miss Ruth Hohman, 5-6-7 grades; Miss Huldah Peterson, 3-4 grades; Miss Sadie Tuttle, 1-2 grades; Miss Marie Krumme, Kindergarten and Music." 2) "The enrollment of the Classes are as follows: Freshmen 42; Sophmores 40; Juniors 35; Seniors 45; total 162. There are 94 tuition pupils." [NOTE: sophomores was misspelled in the original] 3) "The different classes of the High School has organized and have the following advisors and officers: Senior - Mr. Weiland; President - Evalena Thalacker; Vice President - Howard Dahlke; Secretary - Blanche Hoskins and Treasurer - Chester Collins." 4) "The Seniors had a class meeting for the purpose of selecting the class colors, motto and flower. Class colors - gold and white; motto - ever onward; flower - yellow rose." 5) "The Francis Willard program given by the Teacher Training Class will be Friday, September 28 in the High School Auditorium." 6) "The Senior T.T.C. made the following observations Friday: A.M. First grade reading; P.M. Fifth grade Arithmetic, first and second grade penmanship and first grade reading. From now on they will have two first grade reading observations a month. Miss Verkinia Markarian a worker for the near East Relief spoke to the high school on the subject, 'What Americans are doing in Armenia.' She emphasized the fact that an American flag raised before the eyes of the blood-thirty Turks and saved many people from death." 7) "Martha Tonn was awarded first prize for the best T.T.C. Temperance Essay of the state. She received $10. The Senior Training History class have written a play called "The Constitutional Convention." It includes speeches of the great men that helped form the constitution. The best one was dramatized by the eighth grade." 8) "The Senior Teacher Training Course have organized a Literary Society. They elected the following officers: President - Blanche Mills; Vice President - Evaline Tagatz; Secretary - Vernard Zaske; Treasurer - Martha Tonn. The program committee is: Lillie Lange, Carrol Leonard, Evalena Thalacker. The three that have charge of the housekeeping of the Teachers' Training Department this month are Martha Tonn, Evalena Thalacker, and Lillie Lange."
