Westfield Area Fish and Game Association

From the Westfield Central Union, May 30 1924

A movement was started last week to organize a Fish and Game Protective Association in this locality and up to
Saturday night a large number had signed the paper to start a local organization to work in conjunction with
the state organization.

This organization is for the purpose of working with the State Conservation Commission in stocking the streams
and lakes with the proper fish and seeing that what fish is now in them is properly protected so that in a short
time we will have as good fishing to be found in any part of the state. Our streams are natural breeding places
for trout of which the brook trout, the gamiest of trout, is by far the most plentiful, and the lakes are fine
bass and pike lakes.

Through the working of the organization we will be able to keep in touch with the conservation commission and see
that we keep our waters properly stocked up. With our organization functioning properly the unlawful taking of fish
will be practically eliminated and if that is done and our lakes and streams stocked up there will be no time but
what you can go out and catch with hook and line, sufficient fish to satisfy you without taking other means which
at times people do.

Elmer S. Hall, head of the State Conservation Commission, has promised to be with us when we organize and as soon
as he sets the date he can come, you will be notified as to time and place, and whether you have signed up or not,
and are interested in this matter, come to the meeting and help push a good thing along.

The following have been glad to put their names on the list so far and hope that everyone will be enough interested
in this work as to make it practically unanimous by having everybody in this locality get into this organization and
help. The fees for the first year will be 50¢. Following is a list of members signed up to Saturday night:
