High School Notes, 1889

From the Montello Express, Nov. 9, 1889, Page 3

All but two of the eight non-resident students have paid their tuition in advance.

The number of pupils enrolled in the High School and Preparatory Department has
increased to 55.

Principal MEISNEST has started a night school. The number enrolled is seven, but
more are expected soon; all are taking German.

Miss Norcross has been teaching the primary during Miss Gorey's absence on account
of the death of her sister-in-law. Miss Norcross got along nicely with her school.

Supt. Skinner visited our school Monday, Oct. 25. He visited the High School in the
forenoon and the Intermediate and Primary departments in the afternoon. His call
was very pleasant to both teachers and pupils and it is hoped he will call often.

The total number of books drawn from the library since school began is 144. The pupils
of the High School are preparing to give an entertainment between now and Christmas
for the purpose of securing funds to purchase more books for the library.

The following students are enrolled in the three-year high school.
