Deaths:
The death of Hon. John Covode occurred very suddenly. He retired to his room in a hotel
at Harrisburg, at eleven o'clock on Tuesday night, intending to take the morning train for
Washington city. About four o'clock he awoke and complained about the heart. A physician
was sent for, who told him he would be better in an hour. He exclaimed: "Have I to wait
so long?" Just as the doctor was leaving the room, he said: "My God! I am dying!" His
eyes became fixed, and in a moment he was dead. A delegation of the Pennsylvania

Farling - In Montello, on the 17th inst, of pneumonia, Harriet A Farling, wife of A D
Farling, aged 38 years. She leaves a husband and one child about three years old to mourn
over a loss never to be repaired in this world. This world is dreary enough with all the
light and sunshine which surrounds the most favored and fortunate, but when the curtain of
death drops down and hides the form and face of a wife and mother, no more to be seen on
earth, it so rends and snaps the heart strings of life, that few indeed are prepared to
endure it when it comes. With this inevitable fate of us all staring us full in the face,
from which there is no possible escape, and the time so uncertain, yet how few realize the
fact. And who can say that he is living to day as he would if he knew he would die tomorrow.
Yet tomorrow may close the books and you may be required to look over the account of good
and evil, and strike the final balance, preparatory for a new life. The funeral of Mrs.
Farling was attended on the 19th, and her last remains were followed by sypathising friends.
