Letter From Old Settler Mrs. John Bennett (nee Russell) We (my father, Hugh Russell, a sister and brother and myself) left New York in the spring of 1850 and arrived at what is now Russell Flats, April 19, 1850 where we joined our two brothers, Hance and Frank Russell. We settled first on the farm since owned by the late Samuel Russell and later on the Will Russell farm. Our mail was then at Kingston later at Montello and considered ourselves very fortunate when it could be obtained at Packwaukee. After my marriage to John Bennett and while living on the Hance Russell farm, Oxford was our home town where we belonged to church and lodge and done our trading. Have been a resident of Westfield for the past 20 years and have been a resident of Marquette County 65 years. I am now 84 years old and still like to read our county papers. --Sincerely, Mrs. John Bennett
